Free Paint and more from County Recycling Program

Once we’ve gotten into the habit of properly disposing of our household hazardous wastes by delivering them to the Alachua County Hazardous Waste Collection Center, 5125 NE 63rd Ave., we might want to take advantage of the Center’s recycling program. Staff sift through items collected, and if it’s still usable, it goes back on the shelf for reuse by someone else. Of course, some hazardous products are not desirable for use by those who recognize the potential dangers of exposure to synthetic petroleum-based chemicals, such as those found in paints, fertilizers and pesticides. But some items may be useful, including discarded electronics.
