Now You’ll Know When You’re Eating Bugs!

Did you know that tiny cochineal bugs are commonly ground up and added to many of our foods and cosmetic products? And all to impart a rich red color… beats the toxic artificial red petrochemical coloring that was outlawed years ago, but still, who wants to eat bugs? As of 2011, the FDA will require that the bugs be listed as an ingredient in products using them… some people may be allergic and others, such as vegetarians, may wish to avoid eating bugs – they are living creatures, after all.  Read more…
