  • Pesticides are poisons, but conventional agriculture has come to depend on them.
  • Alas, the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS)
  • has been cited for health issues resulting from the use of traditional pesticides.
  • Workers using methcyl bromide (currently being phased out for its damaging
  • effects on the ozone layer) became ill after applications. The solution for IFAS
  • is to hire professional pesticide applicators to spray the stuff on plants.  Our
  • sustainable future will avoid using such chemicals because of their potential
  • health and safety hazards. What do you think?
  • UF’s IFAS undergoes a safety overhaul Three pesticide leaks in 2006 prompted
