Robert Hutchinson, executive director of the Alachua Conservation Trust, Inc., helps clarify citizen’s questions about Amendment 2 on our upcoming city ballot in an article published in the Gainesville Sun, March 17:
Should property that is acquired in the public trust be for sale by our local government?
…..This is the best guarantee that the term “forever” will mean something in the phrase “Alachua County Forever.”
…..No community in America has such a simple and transparent way to guarantee that the commitment of public funds to protect lands will be honored. I urge every citizen of Gainesville to vote in this important election and to support Charter Amendment 2 with your vote of yes.
