Things have changed. Truman became a national figure as chair of a committee that went after waste and fraud in the military. Today, we’re beyond being shocked by the “outsourcing” of military duties – including the actual hiring of mercenaries. “Greed is good” seems to have become the most esteemed mantra in our society.
