We’re in the News: The Gainesville Sun

Posted by Trish Riley, July 5, 2009

Go Green Alachua is a one-stop hub for Gainesville and Alachua County’s eco-friendly business and community information, Riley said.

The site provides links to stories pertaining to the local sustainable community, national environmental news, and local “green” jobs, training and internship opportunities. Riley answers visitors’ questions about green living in a section titled “Green Q&A.”

Riley got the idea for the Web site after she realized how involved residents were with the eco-friendly movement but how disconnected they were from one another’s initiatives.

“People are not always aware what’s here,” she said about the area’s green efforts. “I wanted to bring information to local people.”

…the new green initiatives taking place in Alachua County can mean only good things in terms of people’s well-being and the local economy.

“Change is hard for people,” Riley said. “But if we make this change, everyone will benefit.”
