Transition Town Coming to Micanopy

Posted by Trish Riley, January 7, 2010

The first Micanopy Transition Town meeting will be held at the Micanopy Library/Town Hall on Sunday, January 17, 2010.  Snacks will be provided.  The building is located on Cholokka Blvd in downtown Micanopy next to the fire department and across the street from the Micanopy First Baptist Church.  If you have any trouble finding it, you can call or stop by the Mosswood Farm Store at 703 Cholokka Blvd., across the street from the basketball court (352-466-5002).  We will be meeting on the second floor of Town Hall, but please enter through the side or rear Library entrance.  The library branch manager, Beth Allerton, can direct you to the right place.

The meeting will last from 5pm to 7pm during which we will be screening the movie ‘A Crude Awakening’.  Afterwards, there will be a short discussion and anyone interested can join us past 7 pm at the Mosswood Farm Store for a fire and party to celebrate Emily’s Birthday. BYOB and BYOD (Drum)!   Hope all who are interested and in town can join us.  For those of you who can’t, wish us luck and hope to see you at one of our future meetings.

We will hold the second meeting on Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 5 to 7pm in the same location and will probably view another documentary, either ‘How Cuba Survived Peak Oil’ or ‘End of Suburbia’.  I know you are all familiar with these and the room can seat about 50-60 people comfortably, so please join us and also encourage anyone who hasn’t seen these or is not aware of the peak oil crisis to join us as well.
Thanks and look forward to seeing you,
Joe
