Lola Haskins, who collected supplies to aid in wildlife care in the Gulf, shares this information with us:
“Now we should donate any further supplies to the Florida Wild Mammal Association (wakullawildlife.org).
It’s the only wildlife rescue and rehabilitation organization located in Franklin, Wakulla, Taylor and Jefferson counties (4 coastal counties) that will be heavily impacted by this disaster and certainly need all the help they can get to prepare. All donations to FWMA are tax deductible (they are a registered 501-c3 nonprofit).
They have not received “the official word” yet but because of their experience, their facilities, their location a couple of miles from the
coast), plus their federal licenses and permits, there is no doubt that they will be involved. They are working very hard with all involved agencies to get ready, especially with Tri-State who is in charge of the care of the oiled wildlife, and they desperately need donations.”
