Help Clean Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park

NATIONAL “PUBLIC LANDS” DAY, September 25, 2010

September 25, 9am-noon – Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park, Alachua Co, FL – Farm Day
Help clean up along the trails, paths and around the historic buildings at the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings historic farm, a National Historic Landmark. The work includes weeding and hoeing paths to the farmyard and around the major buildings, including the tenant house, barn and historic farmyard. The more skilled and delicate work of weeding the citrus may be included. If there are enough volunteers, a trail clean up will be tackled. A team for trash pickup on the roadway fronting the park and the parking area will be included.

Number of Volunteers Needed: 30
Equipment Required: We recommend sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, and wear hat and gloves. For some areas, an insect repellent is recommended. The park will provide drinking water.
Family Friendly: Yes, children must be a minimum of age 12, accompanied by an adult.
Travel Information: 18700 S. CR 325, Hawthorne, FL 32640. The park is located in Cross Creek between Lake Lochloosa and Orange Lake, south of Gainesville and north of Ocala.
