Cleaning up a Radioactive Cold War Legacy

Posted by Christine, September 9, 2010

Northwest of Los Angeles, an open secret lies buried around the Santa Susana Field Laboratory. In 1959, a serious nuclear accident happened on this test site, but it took decades for word to leak to the public. Reporter: Chris Richard http://www.californiareport.org/archive/R201009090850/b

Given the type of work conducted at Santa Susana, the full extent of the cleanup needed isn’t really known. Now, federal authorities have agreed to remove the contamination from the part of the property they control.
