Cinema Verde Has Arrived!

Our ten-day Environmental Film and Arts Festival has loads of educational fun in store for everyone: 25 films at 10 venues, an all-day EcoFair, EcoArts, Community Conversations and much more! Come enjoy with us! Here are a few special events to look forward to (click here for more):

We will kick off our ten-day festival with a VIP Opening Night Reception Party, 8 p.m. March 18 at Sharab Lounge. VIP Pass holders, sponsors and partners have received invitations to attend as a thank you, but everyone is invited to join us in toasting the opening of Cinema Verde! Help us judge the trophy awards for filmmakers, created by area sculptors – we will decide which goes to Best In Show! ($20 suggested donation).

Community Conversations FOLLOWING OUR FILMS: • We have several speakers on hand to discuss the issues raised in the films. Since we’re at multiple venues this year, we will have some discussions in theaters, and also plan to meet in the loft at Lux Nightclub to share notes about various films with one another, 211 W. University Avenue.

The first Community Conversation will be a special author presentation with Hitesh Mehta

Another special event will be…
• Michael Stanley-Jones, Public Information Officer at the United Nations Environment Programme in Geneva Switzerland, will join us to lead a discussion of the films Submission and Body Burden, both about the chemical contamination of our bodies. (7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, The Venue). UNEP’s Safe Planet Initiative sanctions and supports Cinema Verde.

Our film schedule is now online: http://verdefest.org/index.php/films/ We hope you can join us in enjoying this amazing array of fascinating information!
