The film highlights the issue of mountaintop removal (MTR) coal mining, and the event will aim to draw the connection between environmental devastation in Appalachia and Gainesville’s energy consumption. Guest speaker Kathy Selvage, a lifelong resident of southwest Virginia, will provide a firsthand account of what it’s like to live in “Coal Country.” Artwork by Anna-Grace Sampson that focuses on the destructive mining practice will also be on display.

More information on the event is available at http://www.facebook.com/events/208689529239575/.
