Deland juice plant will get OK to pump more water

DELAND — A local juice plant’s request to pump more groundwater has upset some neighbors and prompted the region’s water management agency to ask more questions about the company’s plans.

After a review, however, the St. Johns River Water Management District intends to grant the company’s request to amend its water use permit.

Ardmore Farms, which mixes and packages fruit and vegetable juice products, asked the district in May to increase its yearly allowable water use from 93.2 million gallons per year to 120 million gallons per year.
