Risks of industrial chicken

This story on Seven Horrifying Things About the Chicken You Eat from Truthout makes the case against industrial chicken. Bacterial contamination, arsenic from their feed, antibiotics, which are contributing to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, inhumane treatment of the chickens and exploitation of workers. Then there’s the nutritional value of products such as chicken nuggets, which are mainly made of otherwise inedible chicken parts.

Local chicken from small flocks raised humanely is a better choice. It costs more because it’s worth more.
