Nominate a hero for the Blue Frontier awards!

Posted by Christine, September 15, 2014

The Peter Benchley Ocean Awards are the world’s preeminent ocean honors, often called, ‘The Academy Awards of the Ocean.’  They recognize outstanding contributions to marine conservation across a full range of society.  Categories include national stewardship, policy, science, media, youth, ocean exploration, solutions, and the citizen activist ‘Hero of the Seas.’  Every category may not be awarded every year however.

Past winners include the presidents of three nations, three U.S. Senators, a Coast Guard admiral, a port director, leading marine scientists, journalists, youth activists and ordinary people doing extraordinary things for our blue planet.

If you know of people you admire and think are deserving of a Benchley ‘Mantas’ Award for their exceptional work, nominate them for the 8th Annual Peter Benchley Ocean Awards to be held May 14, 2015 in Washington D.C.   Also join us that week for the 5th Blue Vision Summit May 11-12 and Healthy Ocean Capitol Hill Day May 13.

Benchley Nominations are open until December 31, 2014. Online submission forms can be filled out here. For more information about the Peter Benchley Ocean Awards, click here.
