Cinema Verde Brings Environmental Awareness to Local School

Posted by Kelsey Pena, April 20, 2015

Bishop Middle School On Friday, April 17th, students at Gainesville’s Bishop Middle School had the opportunity to participate  in a day of watching environmental films to promote awareness and excitement for the quickly  approaching Earth Day.

Throughout the day, 7th grade science teacher Steven Doherty had an open  door policy and invited students to come watch some of Cinema Verde’s finest film entries and increase  their awareness about important environmental issues.

At the front of the class, a whiteboard proudly read, “A different environmental film every period” and over the course of the day well over 500 students participated in the event. Films such as Do the Math proved to be favorites, and teachers and students alike were excited to participate in the event with many agreeing that it was something that they would like to do again in the future.
