I was born green with my toes in the GA. clay. Rural GA.life was bliss for me until age 5. Then I got yanked up to live in New York and lost my southern innocence and sense of wonder. Fortunately my parents kept an organic veggie garden on our postage stamp lot on Long Island and I learned to love and crave the fruits of nature. One of my brothers and I seem to have inherited the gardening gene and have been diggin' the dirt since we've been homeowners, but, come to think of it, even when we were renters. It's hard to imagine a life without a garden. Organic, that is. My parents also modeled conservative use of resources which has also shaped me and my habits. In my 20s(1970's) I lived in NH on 2 acres, had an attached passive solar greenhouse and only dreamed of energy efficient housing, communal living and solar energy. Life had it's course for me to follow and finally 20 yrs ago , I bought my present abode in Earleton Fl. In 2007 I, at long last, realized part of that long held dream and, with the help of Wayne Irwin and Pure Energy Solar, installed a grid tied, battery back up, phtovoltaic system. I have been in sunbeam heaven ever since. I still dream of communal living, more in the form of a cohousing community. And I'd love to share my deep passion for the task of gardening with other greenthumbs. So much for now. Ciao
